A prize image can make an entry form feel straightforward, but the surrounding rules explain what you are entering. Before submitting information, identify the sponsor, the promotion period, eligibility, and how winners will be contacted.

The FTC's sweepstakes guidance highlights warning signs involving requests for money or financial details. Use that advice alongside the official rules rather than assuming a recognizable prize brand verifies the promotion.

Our suggested entry checklist also asks whether the form includes marketing consent and whether that consent is optional. Read the privacy notice and decide how much information you are willing to share. Avoid entering simply because a countdown makes the decision feel urgent.

Keep the rules or a link to them so you can check any later notification. An entry is only a chance to win; it is not an award confirmation. If the sponsor or terms cannot be identified, do more checking before sending personal information.
